(Estherville)– Iowa Lakes Community College is reporting an increase in its fall enrollment numbers.
College officials say the number of credit hours stand at 36,482-up nearly 12 percent from last year.
The overall number of full-time, part-time and TRIO students totals 4,133…an increase of 6.7 percent.
Dean of Students Julie Carlson says there’s also a new “look” to the student body, with many more non-traditional-aged students. She says many were laid off from local companies and are looking to get a new start.
Carlson points to the fact the college’s Soccer team has a 47-year-old student on it from the college’s Wind Energy and Turbine Technology program; and 43-year-old student who plays on ILCC’s golf team who is consistently among the top five players on the team.
