(Emmetsburg)– Iowa Lakes Community College will be offering a series of Moped Classes this winter and spring. Teri Schmeling of Iowa Lakes says sessions are scheduled for January 11th at the Emmetsburg campus; February 1st at the Spencer campus; March 1st at the Estherville campus; and April 5th at the Algona campus…

“We’re starting them earlier this year, in January, so hopefully that will help the parents and the child work around sports. And then we will have more after April, we’ll have them through the summer also, they just haven’t been published yet.”

She says the cost is $55 and that they’re now accepting registrations…

“If they go to our site, iowalakes.edu/ce, they’ll see under transportation a list of the classes we have and they can pay online. Otherwise they can give me a call and I’ll be happy to help them get it done face to face.”

Students must be at least 13 ½ years-old by the date of the class to enroll. Schmeling says the classes last just one day and fulfill Department of Transportation requirements…

“It’s just classroom work. they kind of learn the signs of the road and the rules they have to follow when driving their moped.”
