(Emmetsburg)– The Construction Technology program at Iowa Lakes Community College has been selected as the winner of the “One in a Million Tool Giveaway” held by Kyle Stumpenhorst, owner of Rural Renovators Buildings in Franklin Grove, Illinois. It was through a contest Stumpenhorst held on his YouTube channel. The tools are worth $13,000.
Those interested needed to submit a video explaining why they should be selected to win the tools. More than 2,500 videos were submitted. Corey Menning, Coordinator of the Construction Technology program at Iowa Lakes, says he submitted a video on the advice of one of his students, Carlos Balderas, after he saw a video about the giveaway.
Stumpenhorst personally delivered the tools to the college earlier this week.
The students are currently constructing a duplex for the Emmetsburg Community Development Corporation. Menning says it’s the largest building project to date his students have taken on.
