IGL Fishing Club Holding Special Event Teaching Adults How To Fish

May 27, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(West Okoboji)– The Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club is known for its events teaching kids how to fish. Now, the organization is planning a session to teach adults about angling as well. Dean Jacobsen of the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club says they decided to put on the seminar after hearing from adults who have fished very little or not at all…

“This isn’t for those who have been out there fishing a lot and know what they’re doing. This is for those that want to take their kids fishing and don’t feel comfortable with their skill set. It’s on June 4th, a Tuesday night, at West O, in their loft, their new addition up top, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm so come a little early to register. We’re going to have a $20 registration fee and that will include pizza and beverages at West O and we’re going to talk a lot about the different types of rods and reels and lines, how to fish off of shore and fish off of docks. And so we’ll talk a lot about rivers, docks and shore fishing and go from there.”

Jacobsen says the class size is limited and those planning to attend need to pre-register…

“We’re going to limit to the first 30 because of the size of the room. We don’t know how it’s going to go. It’s an experiment for us and if it goes well we’ll adjust next year.”
