Icy Conditions Blamed For I-90 Accidents That Injured Several People

(Undated)– Icy conditions are being blamed for a couple of accidents on Interstate 90 that sent several people to the hospital Sunday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 66-year-old David Paulson of Jackson was driving a 2006 Ford westbound at Highway 253 in Faribault county when he lost control. The vehicle left the road and rolled.

Paulson and two passengers, 39-year-old Lisa Paulson and eight-year-old Emery Groen, both of Jackson, were taken by ambulance to a Blue Earth hospital. All three were treated and released.

Severe damage was reported to the vehicle.

The mishap took place shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 near Welcome Sunday evening sent two people to the hospital.

The Minnesota State Ptarol says 62-year-old Danny Smith of St. James was driving a 1992 Chrysler eastbound near Welcome when he lost control on a patch of ice. The vehicle left the road and rolled.

Smith and a passenger, 35-year-old Travis Smith, also of St. James, were taken to a Fairmont hospital where they were treated for neck injuries.

The vehicle was totaled.

That mishap took place shortly before 7:00 p.m.
