November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—The President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation has been presented a special award by the Iowa Area Development Group. Kathy Evert was presented with the organization’s Silver Shovel Award during the corridor’s annual meeting Monday in Storm Lake.

The award honors outstanding leadership, innovation and achievement in business and community development.

Rand Fisher, President of the Iowa Area Development Group, recognized the Corridor for its approach to economic development by incorporating entrepreneurship, existing industry, new business and industrial locations. Evert was recognized for her leadership as past President of the Professional Developers of Iowa and the MidAmerica Economic Development Council.

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation was nominated for the award by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative and Corn Belt Power Cooperative.

The Silver Shovel Award also brought with it a $1,000 contribution from the Iowa Area Development Group’s Community Foundation. The financial award will allow the Corridor to advance economic development through contributions to local non-profit organizations.
