Hwy 9 Crash Injures One, Sends Driver To Jail

(Superior)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a single-vehicle crash back on December 8th on Highway 9 just east of Superior that sent a passenger to the hospital and the driver to jail.

Troopers say 33-year-old Ryan Knudson of Estherville was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound and was attempting to turn onto County Road A20 when he lost control on the ice-covered pavement and slid through the intersection. The vehicle came to rest with its front-end colliding with the opposite bank of the north ditch.

No injuries were reported to Knudson who was cited with failure to maintain control, failure to wear a seatbelt and operating while intoxicated…1st offense. He was booked into the Dickinson county jail.

A passenger, 30-year-old Travis Olson, was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. He was treated for a minor injury and released.

$1,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle.

The incident took place shortly before midnight.
