November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Tuesday on Highway 9 at Hudson Avenue in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.

Spirit Lake Police say 58-year-old Randall Rickleffs of Spirit Lake was westbound and was attempting to make a lane change when he collided with a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Nicole Ellenwood of Spencer, who was also westbound.

A passenger in Ellenwood’s vehicle, five-year-old Thomas Roberts of rural Spirit Lake, was taken by private vehicle to Lakes Regional Healthcare to be checked over for possible injuries. No other injuries were reported.

$1,000 in damage was estimated to a 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Ricklefs; a 2003 Ford Taurus Ellenwood was driving sustained an estimated $1,500 in damage.

Ricklefs was cited for improper lane change.

The collision took place around 10:20 a.m.
