(Okoboji)– The detour for Highway 71 through the lakes corridor will be lifted on Thursday (May 23rd).
Officials with the Iowa Department of Transportation say the general contractor, Cedar Valley Corporation, has completed paving of the this, the third phase of the project. They say add the signs will be removed from the detour route Friday morning (May 24th).
D.O.T officials say traffic on Highway 71 through Arnolds Park and Okoboji will be back to two lanes both directions. They add there will still be lane closures over the next couple of weeks as crews will be replacing sidewalks, driveways, pavers and sod. Motorists are still advised to use extra caution in those locations.
The fourth and what currently is scheduled to be the final phase of the lakes corridor Highway 71 project gets underway immediately following Labor Day this fall.
