Hwy 60 Crash Sends Several To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Hospers)– A two-vehicle collision last Thursday on Highway 60 at the intersection with a blacktop near Hospers sent several people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 31-year-old April Lundquist of Sioux Center was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry and was attempting to turn northbound onto Highway 60 from the blacktop when she failed to yield at a stop sign. Authorities say she then pulled into the path of a 1999 Ford mini van driven by 72-year-old John Schulte of Sibley who was southbound on Highway 60.

Schulte and two passengers in his vehicle, Barbara Schulte and 88-year-old Geneva Petersen, were taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital; Lundquist was taken by private vehicle to the Sioux Center hospital. There was no immediate word on the nature of their injuries or conditions.

$4,500 in damage was estimated to the vehicle driven by Lundquist; damage to the vehicle Schulte was driving was put at roughly $3,500.

Lundquist was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign.

The collision took place around 7:30 a.m.
