Humane Society of Northwest Iowa seeking Foster Homes during Floor and Kennel Replacement

March 06, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Milford)-The Humane Society is seeking Foster Homes during the replacement of their kennels. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Humane Society of Northwest Iowa is seeking Foster Homes for dogs while their kennels are updated.
Shelter Manager Hailey Dirks says, the floor will need to be replaced as well. “With the remodel of the actual kennels, we are also redoing our floor. Our floor right now is just plain concrete, but we are actually going to get that coated with something that’s more durable. Before we can put our kennels in, we have to get the flooring done, so we have to get the dogs out of here. Our goal is to get them all placed by the 12th of this month, that way we can get in here and start tearing down kennels and doing whatever we can to get things ready for the floor to be repaired, hopefully the week of the 18th.”
She adds that the application process is fairly simple. “Go on to our website, which is humanesocietyofnwia.com, and submit a Foster Application. Once they get that application submitted, we will then get ahold of them because we do have to do a home inspection because you’re essentially a shelter in your home so, we need to make sure that your home will stand up to our standards, making sure that there’s no chemicals sitting out, no holes in your screen, make sure that it’s a safe home for one of our kiddos to go to.”
She adds that donations of any kind are appreciated at this time.
