House Fire In Fairmont Claims A Life

(Fairmont, Mn.)– A house fire in Fairmont, Minnesota has claimed a life.

Firefighters and first responders were called around 4:40 pm Monday to an address on South Park Street in Fairmont and found the basement engulfed.

Two people who were in the house were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. One of them, a 43-year-old man, was pronounced dead. The other, a 41-year-old man, was treated and later released. Another person declined medical attention.

Four police officers were reportedly treated for smoke inhalation.




The Fairmont Fire Department was assisted by departments from Truman, Welcome and Jackson along with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and the Truman Ambulance.

The cause is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
