(Des Moines)– Spirit Lake native Zach Whiting made it official Wednesday and filed paperwork with the Secretary of State’s Office in Des Moines making him a candidate for the District 6 seat in the Iowa House of Representatives.
Whiting announced in early January his intent to run for the seat currently held by State Representative Mike May of Spirit Lake who isn’t seeking re-election in November.
Whiting, a Republican, is one of two candidates who have publicly announced an intent to run for the seat. The other is Jeff Smith of Spirit Lake.
The Primary Election will be held June 8th.
