(Sheldon)– A storm system seems to have struck eastern Sheldon, with significant localized damage. Tom Traughber of Community First Broadcasting station KIWA in Sheldon has more…
“An unconfirmed report of a tornado caused heavy damage at an RV dealership in east Sheldon Friday afternoon. On the scene, it’s obvious that several RV’s were either destroyed or heavily damaged. It looks like the roof of the RV dealership at Southwest Wholesale RV is partially gone. The damage is just hard to describe. Several RV’s are either not recognizable as RV’s or sustained some sort of damage. No official reports at this time, but heavy damage and it’s again unconfirmed that it was a tornado but it looks definitely like that kind of damage. From eastern Sheldon, this is Tom Traughber for KIWA.”
There were numerous reports of what’s referred to as “cold air funnels” or “land spouts” throughout northwest Iowa this (Fri.) afternoon. The National Weather Service says that while they seldom touch down, that they can indeed do so occasionally.
