High Wind Causes Scattered Damage

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Wind gusting to nearly 60 mph blasted the region Sunday, resulting in scattered reports of damage.

In Okoboji, a tin roof was reportedly ripped off a mobile home; numerous tree limbs and branches were reported down; and in Milford a set of stoplights at the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road A34 was knocked down.

Corn that was still standing in some fields was either lodged or completely blown down to the ground.

The strong wind came on the heels of an arctic cold front. Overnight lows tonight (Mon.) are forecast to drop into the teens. The National Weather Service says some moderation is expected by mid-week, when daytime highs will return to the 50’s and 60’s.
