July 25, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– A high speed pursuit early Saturday in Clay county resulted in the arrest of a Dickens man on multiple charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it started when a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle in the 2200 mile of 320th Street. Authorities say the driver, 48-year-old Michael Daniels of Dickens, refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit that went for about 13 miles at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Daniels eventually lost control of the vehicle, which traveled into a ditch in the 2900 mile of 320th Street. Daniels then got out of it and attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended a short time later.

Daniels was arrested on charges of felony eluding, driving while barred, speeding…100 mph in a 55 mph zone, improper use of registration, operation without registration, no proof of insurance, and failure to maintain control. He was booked into the Clay county jail.

The Spencer Police Department assisted.
