Hess Wins House District 2 Seat; Gassman Narrowly Wins House District 7

(Undated)– While incumbent Jeff Smith of Okoboji was uncontested for his seat in House District 1, there were highly contested races in some neighboring districts.

In House District 2, which includes southern Dickinson county and most of Clay county, Megan Hess of Spencer defeated Steve Bomgaars, also of Spencer. Hess received 8,611 votes while Bomgaars had 6,625.

In House District 7, which includes Emmet and a portion of Palo Alto county, Tedd Gassman narrowly defeated  John Wittneben. According to unofficial results, Gassman had 7,646 votes while Wittneben had 7,589.

In Senate District 4, which includes most of Emmet, Palo Alto and Kossuth counties, Dennis Guth was the winner. With just one precinct left to report, Guth had 15,828 votes while Bob Jennings had 14,116.
