(Undated)– The heat advisory previously issued for the region which was to be in effect today (Thurs.) from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm has now been upgraded to an excessive heat warning. It goes into effect at Noon and runs until 8:00 pm this (Thurs.) evening. The National Weather Service says heat index values of up to 110 degrees are now expected.
Health experts say the extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, especially for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
They add that it’s important to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and to check up on the elderly, relatives and neighbors.
