(Undated)—As concern mounts over the outbreak of meningitis cases associated with contaminated steroid medications commonly used in pain epidurals, officials with the Iowa Department of Public Health say they’ve been assured by the Food and Drug Administration that none of the implicated products have been distributed in Iowa.
Several hospitals in the area, including Lakes Regional Healthcare and Spencer Hospital, have issued statements saying that they have never used any of the products now being recalled by the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Massachusetts.
The meningitis outbreak associated with the implicated products has been reported in 11 states.
