Head On Crash Near Spencer Seriously Injures Boone Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)—A head-on collision Wednesday at the intersection of county roads B-24 and M-50 in Clay county seriously injured a Boone man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Laurie Garrett of Boone was driving a 2005 Kia Sedona southbound on county road M-50 and 39-year-old Chad Laue of Fenton was driving a 1992 GMC Sierra northbound. Authorities say Laue was attempting to turn westbound onto county road B-24 when the two vehicles collided.

42-year-old Steven Garrett of Boone, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Laurie Garrett, was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to Spencer Hospital.

$15,000 in damage was estimated to both vehicles.

Laue was cited for failure to yield while making a left hand turn; Laurie Garrett was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, and failure to prove security against liability.

The crash took place shortly before 4:00 p.m.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department, Dickens Fire, Spencer Fire and Rescue and the Spencer Hospital ambulance and paramedics.
