Harvest Should Be Busy with Warm Weather

September 26, 2025

(Worthington)We’ll have warmer temps through the weekend and into next week and Liz Stahl, Extension Educator with the University of MN Extension office, says that will be good for the crops.

“We can see people getting soybeans out, we’ve got corn sileage of course has been going and then from corn for grain too and boy with the warmer weather that we’ve got in the forecast that’s gonna really continue to help crops dry down so I really expect harvest to continue on full bore here.”

Stahl says farmers need to make sure they balance everything in order to get the most out of their crops.

Well, I know people really want let crops sit out in the field to dry down as much as possible cause certainly you want to try to minimize the need to dry it artificially as much as possible because we’re trying to keep those costs down but you do want to make sure you’re balancing things out too and keeping an eye on the quality of the crop like make sure you don’t have stalk breakage or ear loss, if you’ve got any fields with stalk quality issues you know be out there scouting for that.”

Stahl reminds everyone to be safe this harvest season.

“Just everybody watch out for the big equipment that’s going to be on the road. Give people space, don’t assume they can see you cause it is really tough to see people see our little cars you know when you’re in a big tractor or a big combine and give people space and just have patience and hey you know again we want a safe harvest season here.”
