H-LP School Board Awards Bids On Bus Barn & Auditorium Projects

March 12, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Lake Park)– The Harris-Lake Park School Board awarded bids during a special session today (Wed.) on the construction of a new bus barn. Superintendent Gary Richardson says they were pleased with how the bids came in…

“We had five bids for our bus barn project and Hoogedoorn Construction was the low bid at $949,000 so we accepted that, and alternate number one which is adding an overhead door to a smaller stall.”

Richardson says work will get underway soon with completion set for December 1st of this year.

The board also today (Wed.) awarded a bid of $389,000 from K & W Electric for some upgrades in the auditorium. Work on that project will get underway once school out is for the summer with completion scheduled for this coming August 1st. The projects were included as part of a bond issue voters approved for the construction of a new elementary school adjacent to the Middle School-High School. Richardson says crews are making good progress…

“We’re getting some walls up and everything is framed. You can see the footprint clearly now. A couple of weeks behind, I would think because the steel was a month late, but the crews are out and working. We’re pretty excited. The weather has really worked in our favor here in the last couple weeks.”

Voters approved an $18.6 million bond issue for the projects in November, 2023.
