Group Of Co-Workers From Spencer Plant Claims Second Lottery Prize In Two Years

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– For the second time in two years, a group of 50 co-workers from a Spencer hydraulics plant has won a $10,000 lottery prize.

59-year-old Dale Schomaker of Milford claimed the $10,000 Mega Millions prize on behalf of the group last Friday at the Iowa Lottery’s regional office in Storm Lake, along with two other members of the group, Tim Duis and Dale McGuire both of Spencer.

They won their $10,000 prize in the April 23rd Mega Millions drawing.

Schomaker, a machinist at Eaton Corporation, said he buys tickets each week on behalf of the group after pooling the money he gets from his co-workers. He purchased the group’s $10,000-winning ticket at Boji Junction in Milford.

Schomaker says the group has been playing together for nearly 16 years and plans to keep playing. He says they hope to win a jackpot someday.

The winning numbers in that night’s $92 million Mega Millions jackpot drawing were 9-21-22-32-50 and the Mega Ball 10. The Megaplier number that night was 3.

The group’s ticket matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win the $10,000 prize.
