Groundbreakings Last Official Duties For Todd Abrahamson As Okoboji Superintendent

June 30, 2025

(Milford)– Today’s (Mon.) groundbreaking ceremonies marked the culmination of Todd Abrahamson’s tenure of Superintendent for the Okoboji Community Schools. Today (Mon.) is officially his last day on the job, as he retires after 9 years at the helm. He says passage of bond issues for the new middle school and now for the new elementary and high school renovations stand out among the highlights…

“This was a huge team effort, a community effort. I had an individual tell me one time you can have a vision but that vision is only a dream if you don’t have the right partners and team in place, and that’s what this is all about. I’m just honored and privileged to be a part of that and to lead this process through, but it takes a team to get things done. Today is my last day officially as superintendent as I retire. Will Dible takes over starting tomorrow. He’s a great guy and the right guy for the job and he’ll get this last project over the finish line for our community, staff and students.”

Abrahamson also expressed his gratitude to the community and everyone he’s worked with…

“Teachers, our staff, our department heads, admin, school board. And people who know me really well know I’m a straight shooter and this by far has been the best school district I’ve been a part of. Not just myself being a superintendent and a leader, but for my family and my younger two children that graduated here at Okoboji. They would tell you this was the place they looked to be and were excited to graduate from. A lot of great things throughout the nine years here, but again team effort. From the No Bo program to our internships to STEM programs, the list goes on and on. It’s just a really unique, innovative, proactive school district and I’m just glad I’ve been a part of that.”

Abrahamson says he and his wife Mary plan to spend more time with family and will do some traveling.

We’ll hear from Will Dible, Abrahamson’s successor, in upcoming newscasts.
