(Arnolds Park)– A groundbreaking has been set on a project to construct a civic complex in Arnolds Park. The ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 pm August 14th. The city council voted recently to finance the project through revenue bonds not to exceed $15 million. They’re hoping the final cost will come in around $11 million.

The project consists of new city offices, a new library, and new facilities housing the police and fire departments. Construction is expected to last about 14 months. The city council had originally considered doing the project in phases, but they say that would have extended the disruptions and would have added considerable cost to the project. City offices and facilities are operating out of temporary locations while the construction is going on.

The new facility will be constructed at the same site of the existing one and will be expanded to the east onto some property the city acquired in recent years.
