Grassley Supports Measured Response By U.S. So Far To Japan Disasters

November 22, 2014

(Washington, D.C.)– One member of Iowa’s congressional delegation agrees with what so far has been a carefully measured response by the U.S. to assist with the catastrophes in Japan.

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley says it’s important the U.S. and others listen closely to what’s being specifically requested by Japanese officials. He says the unknown factor over radiation dangers from the crippled nuclear power plants in the northeastern part of Japan may also play into the amount of assistance the U.S. will make available for now atleast.

When it comes to Japan’s nuclear crisis, Grassley there are lessons to be learned for the nuclear industry in this country. He says it’s okay to reconsider the location and makeup of nuclear power plants, but that nuclear power will continue to be vital to the nation’s energy portfolio.

Grassley made his comments this (Thursday) morning in an exclusive interview with KUOO news.
