Grass Fire NE Of Arnolds Park Burns About 5 Acres

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– A grass fire late this (Mon.) morning burned about five acres northeast of Arnolds Park.

Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says his department was called around 11:00 a.m. to an unmowed grass field on County Road M-56 just north of 185th Street. He says firefighters arrived to find about five acres of land on fire,  with the fire being pushed northward on the heels of a gusty north wind. Firefighters were eventually able to contain and put out the blaze after about an hour  and 20 minutes on the scene.

Carpenter and other area fire chiefs continue to warn the public that the grassland fire index right now is very dry due to the hot, dry conditions.
