(Des Moines)—Governor Terry Branstad late this (Thurs.) afternoon issued a disaster proclamation for ten counties in northwest Iowa.
The counties included in the proclamation are Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth and Sioux.
The proclamation stems from a series of storms that have battered the region since Tuesday with heavy wind, heavy rain, thunderstorms and ice resulting in damage to public and private property.
The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond and to recover from the effects of the storms, including removal of debris and wreckage on publicly or privately owned land.
