(Des Moines)—Governor Terry Branstad today (Fri.) issued a disaster emergency proclamation for six more counties affected by recent flooding. Clay county is among them.
The Governor has also activated the Iowa Individual Assistance program for Clay and three other counties. That program provides grants up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level, or a maximum annual income of $39,060 for a family of three.
Grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and to cover the expense of temporary housing.
More information and applications can be found online at www.dhs.iowa.gov.
Similar designations have been granted previously for a number of other counties in Iowa hard hit by flooding, including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Plymouth and Sioux counties in northwest Iowa.
