Governor Branstad Orders Flag At Half Staff To Honor A Soldier From Algona Killed In Afghanistan

(Des Moines)—Governor Terry Branstad has ordered flags in Iowa be flown at half-staff from 5:00 p.m. Friday (Nov. 30th) to 8:00 a.m. Monday (Dec. 3rd) to honor 23-year-old Seargeant Joseph Richardson, a native of Algona who died in Afghanistan.

died November 16th while on routine patrol with the U.S. Army in Paktika province, Afghanistan.

’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Algona. Major General Timothy Orr, adjutant general of the Iowa National Guard, will be in attendance.
