Good Progress Being Made On North Y Infrastructure Project

June 21, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– The Spencer City Council Monday evening heard an update on the North Y project. The city’s engineer, Jim Thiesse, reported crews are continuing to make good progress in extending infrastructure to the site…

“He’s got about 2,200 feet of sewer in and another 400 feet to go and I think he’ll probably finish that, probably less than 400, this morning we had 400, they’ll probably finish that Wednesday, sanitary sewer, then they’ll jump back and start on storm sewer. The grading is 90 percent done, not all of the topsoil, of course, topsoil gets stockpiled and then it goes back on at the end, but the mass grading is pretty well completed. Water main guys are going to come in Wednesday and do the connection in the highway ditch, the live tap to the existing main and then they’re going to start laying water main probably next week. There’s a lot of water main out there. Just in the subdivision there’s 3,500 feet which when you see the pile of pipe that’s a lot.”

Thiesse says work is also getting underway on some bypass tiling.
