Good Neighbor Fund Is In The Midst Of Its Annual Fundraising Campaign

October 27, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of the Okoboji and Spirit Lake Territory is in the midst of its annual fundraising campaign. Committee Chairman Luke Donnenwerth says their goal again this year is to raise at least $87,500…

“Last year that was our goal. We ended up over $100,000 last year based on the community support. It was great. We were able to give a little extra money to each of those groups last year and we’re hoping to do the same this year. The fund drive for this year is that same amount, $87,500 and there’s 18 groups this year that are part of the fund drive.”

Donnenwerth adds fliers were recently mailed to residents…

“Those have gone out. They go out in October and then we raise money all the way through April of 2023. If you want to support you can reach out to a board member, myself, or many others, but the best way to do it if you want to provide some financial support is to just mail to our P.O. Box. It’s P.O. Box 454 in Spirit Lake.”

Donnewerth says you can specify your donation go to one specific charity that’s on the list if you have a favorite.

Charities benefitted by the Good Neighbor Fund include American Red Cross, Atlas, Bedell YMCA, Camp Foster, CAASA: Prevention of Domestic Violence, Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County, Dickinson County RSVP Literacy Partners, Family Crisis, Hope Haven, Kings & Queens, Lakes Area Senior Citizens, Lakes Hockey Association, Mid-America Council-Boy Scouts, Pearson Lakes Art Program, Respite Angels, Spirit Lake Youth Athletics, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, and Voluntary Action Center.
