(Spirit Lake)-Organizers are seeking auction items for Get Up & Bowl for Special Olympics. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Get Up & Bowl for Special Olympics will be held on April 30th at Corner Lanes in Spirit Lake.
Committee Member Mike Ross says organizers are seeking donations at this time. “People can come in and donate anywhere from $150 to $500 based on whether you have a bowling team, a virtual team or want to be a corporate sponsor. A lot of times people just come in and donate $10 or $50, every little bit helps toward our main goal. In addition to that, in the past we’ve had such a huge amount of silent auction items that have raised so much money and sometimes people don’t know where to take that. Well, one thing that we’ve done to streamline that process, is you can drop your silent auction items at Business Today where we get everything organized for the event and keep everything ready to go for the big day.”
He notes that proceeds from the event will go to local athletes. “Without these funds, these athletes, in many cases, can’t afford to go to these events. So, it’s absolutely critical we do as much as we can to generate funds for these events. Everything, 100% of it, goes to the athletes’ events, things that they need for the events, traveling, anything we can do to subsidize those costs really make things a lot easier and helps the athletes focus on being successful at their event.”
The public is invited to attend the event on April 30th.
