(Spirit Lake)—A malfunctioning furnace has been identified as the probable cause of a fire Saturday that damaged an apartment in a house at 310 Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake.
Fire Chief David Kollasch says an investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s Office made that determination after visiting the site earlier this week.
Damage was confined to the upstairs apartment and no injuries were reported.
