Fundraising Underway For July 4th Fireworks Display In Spencer

June 17, 2022 Steve Schwaller

Money is being raised for a big fireworks display in Spencer. Jeremy Parsons serves on the fireworks committee. He says a big change is being made in this year’s display…

“We’ve made the decision, the Spencer Fireworks Committee, to move the fireworks back to the 4th of July. So it’s going to be a great Monday night out at the fairgrounds watching those fireworks.”

Parsons says they’re hoping to raise at least $10,000….

“And yeah, you know, like everything in the world costs are going up and the price of fireworks has gone up about 20 percent so our 4th of July celebration of fireworks that we do every year here in Spencer, about $10,000 and so we’re going to need some fundraising to make those fireworks happen and so it’s pretty simple for you to do that. We’ve actually partnered with the Spencer Chamber so you can drop off a donation at the chamber office and it’s through their foundation which means there’s some tax benefits for you. Or otherwise you can sure come out to the office and just drop off some money, to the fair office where I am, you know, on behalf of the fireworks committee. So yeah, we just hope everyone will be ready to enjoy those fireworks at the fairgrounds on July 4th.”

The display will begin at 10:00 pm July 4th at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
