FSA Extends Prevented Planting Deadline For Dickinson County Farmers

November 22, 2014

(Undated)—Wet weather this spring and the associated delays in getting crops planted has resulted in the Dickinson County Farm Service Agency extending the deadline to report prevented plant acreage. The deadline has now been pushed back to July 15th, to coincide with the crop reporting deadline. Prevented planted acres normally should be reported within 15 days of the final planting date of the crop that was unable to be planted because of excess rainfall.

Larry Lago of the Dickinson County Farm Services Agency says producers with crop insurance should contact their agent first to verify annual planting dates for all crops and to determine their options based on their coverage before making any cropping decisions.

Anyone with questions should contact the Dickinson County Farm Service Agency at 336-3782, extension 2, or go to www.fsa.usda.gov.
