(Worthington)-Michael Martin Murphey will perform in Worthington this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Friends of the Auditorium will present the iconic Michael Martin Murphey in concert at Memorial Auditorium in Worthington this weekend.
Managing Director Tammy Makram says, Murphey not only performs his well-known hits, but also plays songs he’s written for other artists. “He’s really famous for a lot of his songwriting. He’s written songs for The Monkees, Kenny Rogers, John Denver, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus and many, many more. A fun part of his show is not only hearing his songs, but hearing songs and hearing stories about the other famous singers that he’s written for. He’s a wonderful storyteller. His most famous song, of course, is Wildfire.”
She notes that there will be two concerts this weekend. “We thought we’d give people a couple of options because the last time that he performed here we sold out and had a waiting list. So we are doing Saturday evening at 7 performance on May 4th, and Sunday afternoon at 3 on May 5th.”
