Friends of Memorial Auditorium Performing Arts Center in Worthington to present Transit Authority September 24

September 19, 2022 Becky Thoreson

(Worthington, MN)-The Memorial Auditorium in Worthington is presenting a number of concerts in the next month. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Friends of Memorial Auditorium Performing Arts Center in Worthington will present Transit Authority on Saturday night.
Managing Director Tammy Makram says the group recreates the classic sounds of the band Chicago. “Besides being able to do this tribute to Chicago music, they’re just wonderful musicians on their own, and if you’re familiar with that music, it is complicated. There’s a lot of time changes and key changes and all of those things, and they just do it so well.”
She notes that a number of other concerts are coming up in the near future. “October 1st we have a Saturday afternoon matinee of The Glenn Miller Orchestra that is traveling through, and then a couple of weeks later on October 16th, which is a Sunday afternoon at 2, we have a wonderful pianist, her name is Janie Becker, and she actually grew up in the area. She is coming to do a concert of piano music on our beautiful Steinway, and then, the final thing for the fall is on Saturday, October 22nd, and that’s a group called The Folsom Prison Experience.”
