July 18, 2022 Becky Thoreson

(Okoboji)-The Speaker Series will continue Tuesday evening at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Friends of Lakeisde Lab Science Seminar Series will continue on Tuesday night with a panel discussion on mental health.

Dickinson County Director of Population and Public Health Katy Burke explains. “We were excited that Lakeside Lab reached out to us to chat about mental health and so, we currently conducted the Fiscal Year 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment, with help from over 600 respondents across Dickinson County, and one of the prioritized significant needs that we heard from you, is that mental health and awareness of behavioral health issues, is one of the biggest things that’s facing our area, not only Dickinson County, but across the nation and the world. So, we’re putting together a panel with at least 4 panelists there, talking about this Community Health Needs Assessment , and where we’re moving forward with increasing awareness of these behavioral health resources, and what else we can do, getting more feedback from you. So, we’ll follow that up with a Q & A session.”

She adds that informational materials will be available at the talk, which is free and open to the public starting at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening at Mahan Hall on the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory Campus.
