(Spencer)– More bad news for the local economy today (Wed.).
Freudenberg-NOK announced this (Wed.) morning it will be closing it’s Spencer manufacturing facility as part of a company-wide restructuring caused by the recession. About 65 people will be left without a job.
Sarah O’Hare, the company’s Vice President of Human Resources and Communications, tells KUOO news the Spencer operations are being transferred to two plants in Ohio. O’Hare says current plans call for the Spencer plant to be shut down in six months.
O’Hare says the decision to close the Spencer plant by no means reflects negatively on the quality of the employees there. She added the company will do everything it possibly can to help them transition.
The Spencer Freudenberg-NOK plant manufactures rubber seals for the automotive industry and general industrial sector.
The company has been in operation in Spencer nine years.
