Former SL Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Drug Charge

(Sioux City)—A former Spirit Lake man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge.

24-year-old Jeffrey Krowiorz, who’s now from Vail, Iowa, entered the plea March 26th in U.S. District Court to a charge of possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

At a plea hearing Krowiorz admitted that on September 28th, 2012 he possessed over 18 grams of pure meth and intended to distribute it to others. According to court documents, Krowiorz attempted to flee on foot when officers made contact with him regarding an outstanding arrest warrant. He was apprehended a short distance away. Officers seized three baggies of methamphetamine concealed in a body spray container that had been converted to a storage container.

Sentencing will be held upon completion of a presentence report. In the meantime Krowiorz remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal.

He faces a minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment along with an $8 million fine and at least eight years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, the Spirit Lake Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
