(Sioux City)– A former Primghar man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a federal drug charge. 46-year-old Daniel Trevino pled guilty February 5th of this year to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Evidence at plea and sentencing hearings showed that from December 2020 through April 2021, Trevino and others were involved in a conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine. In a traffic stop April 24th, 2021, law enforcement found a scale, cell phones and drug paraphernalia in a bag. A further search of the vehicle itself turned up a black magnetic box with about a quarter pound of methamphetamine which he had just picked up from a source in Colorado.
Trevino remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
The case was investigated by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa DCI Laboratory.
