Former CCE Supt. Pleads Not Guilty To Theft Charge

(Spencer)– The former Superintendent of the Clay Central-Everly School District has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first degree theft and has waived his right to a speedy trial.

Trial for 49-year-old Monte Montgomery is tentatively set for June 12th in Clay County District Court. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for May 15th.

Montgomery is accused of using the school district’s credit card to misappropriate more than $47,000 between July 1st, 2005 and November 30th, 2010.
