(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake woman on probation for five years after entering an Alford Plea to charges filed in 2005 in connection with misappropriating and mismanaging funds from the former Before and After Schools Services program faces new legal problems.
44-year-old Margaret “Meg” Waltz was arrested June 11th on a charge of theft by check in the second degree…a class “D” felony.
According to court documents, Waltz is accused of issuing a non-sufficient funds check in the amount of 2,500-dollars to the Cartwright Brothers Band.
As part of her probation, Waltz was to obey the law. Due to the new charge, a formal notice of a probation violation was filed June 12th with the Clerk of Court’s office.
Waltz was arrested on a warrant by Spirit Lake police. Court documents say she posted a five thousand dollar bond.
An initial appearance is set for 9:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25th in Dickinson County District Court.
Court documents say the complaint containing the charge was filed June 10th with the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office.
