Forecasters Warning Of A High Fire Danger Across The Region Today (Monday)

April 15, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Undated)– Today is NOT going to be the day to do any open burning. The National Weather Service says a red flag warning will be in effect for the region from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm this evening due to a very high fire danger. Forecasters say low relative humidity, gusty wind and warm temperatures, along with dry vegetation, will combine to create the danger.

On Sunday, fire departments in Clay county responded to several controlled burns that got out of control. Fire departments from Superior and Estherville responded to a ditch fire.

Relief is on the way, however. The National Weather Service says substantial rainfall will be possible with a system that will impact the region late tonight through Thursday.
