(Emmetsburg)– A follow-up to an investigation that was initiated in June of 2009 has resulted in the arrests of two Palo Alto county residents on drug charges.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it was a joint investigation with the Iowa Department of Human Services which requested assistance at 202 South Sixth Street in Mallard.
A consent search of the residence turned up a marijuana growing operations and suspected marijuana. Evidence seized at the time was sent to the Iowa DCI crime lab for analysis. Lab results have since determined the seized items were marijuana.
44-year-old Jeffrey Opehim and 45-year-old Shari Opheim have been charged with conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance…marijuana; and possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…without afixing a drug tax stamp. Both charges are class “D” felonies.
Both were booked into the Palo Alto county jail and were later released.
