(Milford)– All of the rain we’ve received so far in April has been adding up. As of this (Tues.) morning, 4.72 inches of rain has fallen this month at the KUOO studios. That’s being reflected in increasing levels on lakes and rivers. In fact, the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a flood warning for a stretch of the Little Sioux River west of Milford. The river stage at that location as of 7:00 am this (Tues.) morning was 11.9 feet. Flood stage there is 12 feet.
Officials say that based on current information, the river is forecast to crest at 12.2 feet Wednesday morning before it starts to fall. They say that’s highly conditional, however, on the rainfall that’s expected through the rest of the week. The flooding will impact low lying agricultural ground in that area.
