(Milford)– An organizational meeting was held Monday in Milford as that community begins preparations for being the first overnight stop on this year’s RAGBRAI route in July. Mayor Steve Anderson says a RAGBRAI official was on hand for the session. He says they’ve already started to address one matter in particular…
“Where can we put the people. They’ve already done kind of their initial analysis of it and I think logistically figured out where everyone’s going to go and how we’re going to route them through town is going to be the challenge that we’re going to have. I know that we’ll figure it out and we’ll work through it, so.”
Anderson says their options are somewhat limited this time as far as using school grounds…
“Things that have changed since last RAGBRAI was here last, they’ve got the artificial turf field which last time they were here they used the football field, and the last time they were here they used the area where the middle school is, so the school doesn’t have green space any more that is usable for an event like that, so.”
Anderson says a meeting for anyone interested in serving on a RAGBRAI committee will be held sometime in the next week or two. A date for that hasn’t been set yet. Meanwhile, he says another overview meeting will be held next week with a RAGBRAI official once again present…
“We are going to try to get a public meeting together for everyone to come in and learn about the committees and learn about what’s happening and then try to people to help with those different committees. That will be coming up here in the next week or two. We’ll try to get something happening here at the community center where people can come in and learn about the committees and what’s going on there.”
Another area community, Estherville, will be the second overnight stop on this year’s RAGBRAI route.
