(Whittemore)– A fireworks-related mishap in Kossuth county has claimed a life.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office says authorities were called to the corner of 5th Street and Kossuth Avenue in Whittemore shortly after 9:00 pm Tuesday. Upon arriving deputies and EMS personnel found a man at that location unconscious. 33-year-old Patrick Prentice of Whittemore was transported to Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona where he was pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Office says an investigation determined the accident occurred as a result of holding a launcher tube while lighting fireworks. An autopsy is being conducted.
