(Spirit Lake)– Now through October 15th has been designated “Fire Prevention Week”. This year’s theme is “It’s Fire Prevention Week. Protected Your Family From Fire”.
This year’s campaign focuses on preventing the leading cause of home fire–cooking, heating, electrical equipment, candles and smoking materials.

The Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Department will hold an open house at the Okoboji station Wednesday (Oct. 12th) from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Chief Chris Yungbluth says visitors will be able to view the fire equipment and see safety demonstrations. Door prizes will also be given away. The department will also have its fire extinguisher training system set up. Anyone 14 and older will be able to experience through a safe live fire scenario the proper way to extinguish a fire using a fire extinguisher.
